*****Make
certain your phone line is Analog and not digital*****
Turn
on Palm Pilot
Select
the menu icon located in the lower left corner of the screen.
From
the drop down menu, called options, choose Modem Setup.
At
this point the palm pilot needs to be setup for the type of modem that
you have.
1.For
aUS Robotics modem, the screen
should read:
Flow
Ctl: Automatic
String:
( a string of numbers and letters…)
2.If
you have a NewCom modem, the screen should read:
Flow
Ctl: Automatic
String: ( a string of numbers and letters…)
To change the modem selection:press
on the down arrow located right after the word Modem: and select the type
of modem from the drop down box,the
rest will change automatically.
Select
Done.
(This
puts you back into the hotsync screen.)
If
your modem Sync icon readsWindows RAS, with the phone # underneath you
are ready to access our database by modem.
Ifyour
palm pilot reads select service under modem sync, then press the
screen at the select servicebox
and at the left of the word Service, press the drop down arrow and
selectWindows RAS.
To
the right of Username:press to bring
up cursor, select the abc button (at lower left of screen) and type inpalmthen
press done.
To
the right of Password:press the
word prompt, select the abc button (at lower left of screen) and
type in palm then press done.
If
the next screenreads palm
then press OK.If not press cancel,
return to word prompt and repeat process.
To
the right of the word “phone” press the box that says “ tap to enter phone”.
Press the 123 button (located at the lower right of screen) and type in your assigned Phone No.
Press
“Done”.
At
the next screen, press “OK”.
At
the Preferences screen press “Done”.
Your
modem Sync icon should read Windows RAS, with the phone # underneath.
Your
Palm Pilot is now ready to access our database by modem.
