A. Getting around
1. Hyperlinks: These are links from one page to another. They
can be words or pictures. When a word is a link to another page, it will
be a different color than the regular text.
Most of the time it is blue (Never black). Also, Links are always underlined.
Note: On the bottom of most pages, there are links to the Home
page and at times to the
Eradication
Manager.
2. Web Browsers: At the top left of the web browser(a program to access the internet i.e. Netscape Communicator, and Microsoft Internet Explorer), there are 2 buttons that you need to know: “Back” and “Forward”. With these buttons, you can go back to a previous page or forward to the page you just left.
B. Boxes
1. Action Boxes: There are gray boxes in the Eradication manger
with words in them. These boxes are action buttons that will execute the
given command. (Ex: “Mark to be Sprayed”- sends your field information
to update the database.)
2. Selection Boxes: These are boxes that have a list of information or names that has an arrow to the right of the box. When you click on the box with the mouse, the whole list will appear. Once you see the list, you can find the information or the name of the person you are looking for and highlight it by clicking on that info or name. Lastly, you will need to find and press the action box to execute the search.
Note: You can either use the mouse to find the name or use the up and down arrows to sort through the list.
Example: “Choose System User Type”
3. Data Boxes: Similar to “selection boxes”, these are empty boxes that have a white background. To begin typing information in the boxes, you will need to have the cursor blinking in the box. You can do this by putting the mouse over the box and clicking the left button one time.
C. Logging into Eradication Manager
To log onto the Eradication Manager, first click on the "Eradication
Manager" link on the index page (http://www.obweo.org). This will
bring you to a new page asking for a user name and password.
Note: Your default user name is the first letter of your first name and your full last name. If there is duplication in user names, either an underscore( _ ) is placed between the letter and the name of one of the duplicates, or a 1 is placed at the end of the user name.
For example: a user named “Charlie Brown” would
have the user name of "cbrown"
or "c_brown" or "cbrown1" if another user has a first name starting with
"c" and
a last name brown.
Your password has been assigned to you by the OBWEO MIS staff. If you have not been told your password, contact the MIS staff by email or calling the Hobart office.
Note: If you still have questions, please contact OBWEO MIS(Management Information Systems) @ 1-800-246-4810
